Heavy-Seas-the-Greater-Pumpkin-bottleHeavy Seas Great’er Pumpkin- “In the most worthy of pumpkin patches and during the silence of the midnight hour, the Great’er Pumpkin raises up and pours a rich deep and burnished orange color. Heady aromas of bourbon, cinnamon, ginger, allspice and clove linger seductively over the thick white head of this tremendous brew. Its love at first sip as the full malt body, dominated by British crystal malt, brown sugar and pumpkin, slowly washes over your tongue. Bourbon barrel aging rounds out the flavors with notes of oak, vanilla, and bourbon. To_Ol_Gose_to_Hollywood_lab_bdbsTool Gose To Hollywood- “To Øl got starstruck. This is how we went to Hollywood. Salty, sour, light gose brewed with the best fruits California can offer. Best consumed on warm summer days or on the red carpet.”  ABV: 3.8%.

New Beer Arrivals 8/22-8/26

Stone 20th Anniversary Citracado IPA- “Our team came up with the idea for this beer after having the opportunity to taste local avocado flower honey. With its huge floral flavor, we decided it was the perfect ingredient for this special beer. Since the name of our street is Citracado Parkway, combining Citra hops with avocado flower honey in this double IPA seemed like a natural thing to do! A fantastic beer with which to celebrate our 20th anniversary!”  ABV:9%.

Evil Twin Aun Mas Café Jesus- “Imperial Stout with Coffee Added On a pilgrimmage for immortal craft beer we tripped on these heavenly coffee beans — threw them in and created damn good aromas, a thick fudge-like body, pitch black color and obviously only made it in limited amounts. And the taste…. furthermore Jesus!”  ABV: 12%.

Marz Brewing Jungle Boogie- “Jungle Boogie is an American Wheat beer with just enough complex malt character to balance the hops and fruity rooibos tea flavors.”  ABV: 5.4%.

revolutionmosaic heroRevolution Mosaic Hero- “This specialty IPA is quite unique with a heavy usage of a rare and sought-after hop, Mosaic. Clean toasty malt flavor allows the Mosaic hop to shine with a blast of tropical, citrus and deep herbal aromas and flavors.  Mosaic Hero is brewed with Pale and CaraFoam malts and Naked Golden Oats to yield a rich copper color and smooth mouthfeel. We minimized the specialty malts in this brew to allow the star of the show, the hops, specifically Mosaic, to be showcased properly. Using Warrior as our primary bittering hop and additions of Mosaic and Zythos in the brewkettle and whirlpool we created a crisp intense bitterness and layers of earthy and herbal flavors.  Finally, we dry hopped this unique IPA with Mosaic once again to lock in and enhance the aromas of tropical fruit, citrus and fresh pine.”  ABV: 7.5%.

DFH-671_R11_12ozBottle_SeaQuench_Mech052716_OLDogfish Head SeaQuench Ale- “SeaQuench Ale is our session sour quencher made with lime peel, black lime and sea salt. It’s a citrusy-tart union of three German styles of beer blissfully brewed into one. We begin by brewing a straightforward Kolsch with lots of wheat and Munich Malt, then we brew a salty Gose with black limes, coriander and our sea salt. We follow it all up with a citrusy-tart Berlinerweiss made with lime juice and lime peel. All three beers are then blended together in the fermentation tank to create this German hybrid.”  ABV: 4.9%.

bellsbestbrownBell’s Best Brown Ale- “A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown is a mainstay in our fall lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.”  ABV: 5.8%.

bellsdoublecreamBell’s Special Double Cream Stout- “Named for its velvety smooth, creamy texture, this incredibly rich stout is brewed with 10 different specialty roasted malts, chosen that impart notes of rich mocha and espresso. Dark and sweet tones intermingle with a soft, roasty finish.”  ABV: 6.1%.

Uinta Pit Stop- A kettle soured Apricot IPA.  Available in 750mL bottles with cork&cage.  ABV: 4%.

Oskar_Blues_Passion_Fruit_Pinner_200_200_75_c1_center_centerOskar Blues Passion Fruit Pinner- “Passion Fruit Pinner takes the flavors of passion fruit & citrus juice of the original Pinner Throwback IPA and turns them up to 11. The clean malts, with hints of toasted biscuit pair with zesty hops to spice up the taste and aromas from pureed Passion Fruit and a small spike of pureed Blood Orange.”  ABV: 4.9%.

nbpumpkickNew Belgium Pumpkick- “What’s that bite of tartness doing in a pumpkin beer? Adding the unexpected kick of cranberry juice to brighten this traditionally spiced seasonal ale. Pumpkick is brewed with plenty of pumpkin juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, but it’s the cranberries and touch of lemongrass that send your taste buds sailing.”  ABV: 6%.

Prairie Ace- “Ace is a candy sugar saison that has been dry hopped with Sorachi Ace, and if you ask us there couldn’t be a better beer to sip on during these hot summer days.”  ABV: 7.5%.

Prairie-Weiss-Sour-Wheat-BeerPrairie Weisse- “Prairie Weisse is a berliner weisse style beer that is light, refreshing, and lemony-sour. It finishes with a touch of malt to help balance out the flavor.”  ABV: 4.5%.

boulder-dragonhosenBoulder Dragonhosen- “Brewed with generous amounts of Vienna and Munich malts for a rich, full-bodied malty flavor, Dragonhosen begins as a traditional Oktoberfest lager, then stealthily breathes fire with 9% alcohol by volume. Hallertau and Czech Saaz hops add balance with a mild earthy aroma and flavor with moderate bitterness.”

New Beer Arrivals 8/15-8/19

forkintheroadBlank Slate Fork in The Road- “The first beer in Blank Slate’s “Traveling IPA” series. Autumn is a time of change and mother nature is at a fork in the road as the bright summer gives way to fall’s darker colors. This beer sits squarely at the fork where darker malts and brighter hops meet. Munich and CaraRed malts give it an amber color and bigger malt presence than a standard IPA. Generous amounts of Citra and Centennial hops remind you that it’s still an “India” style beer nonetheless.”  ABV: 6.8%.

outandaboutBlank Slate Out&About- “In Eastern Germany there is an old, nearly forgotten style of wheat beer known as Gose (pronounced “goes-uh”). Traditionally brewed with Coriander and Salt and fermented to produce a slight sourness, this beer has a tart, refreshing finish. Our version uses German “Sauermalz” and a little Caraway to go along with the Coriander and just a touch of Sea Salt. The result is a crisp, refreshing wheat ale that is just the thing when you are “out and about” on a warm day.”  ABV: 5.4%.

funkypumpkinBoulevard Funky Pumpkin- “Our entry in the very popular pumpkin ale market is an eccentric one, with pumpkin flavor scarcely present, upstaged by cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and ginger. Brewhouse souring lends a subtle, pleasant tartness putting the “unk” in “funky.”  ABV: 5.8%.

Boulevard-Funkier-Pumpkin-2016Boulevard Funkier Pumpkin- “Never content with brewing “to style,” our brewing team’s approach to Funkier Pumpkin is far from your standard take on pumpkin spice beers. Choosing to focus on the complexity that brettanomyces can bring to a beer, Funkier Pumpkin offers subtle pumpkin flavor accented by traditional spicing in a beer that showcases the hallmark earthy/forest floor notes of our house wild yeast strain.”  ABV: 8.5%.

puffthemagiccyserVandermill Puff the Magic Cyser- “Puff the Magic Cyser is a collaborative barrel aged product between Vander Mill and New Holland Brewing Company. This cyser is fermented with Michigan wildflower honey to complete dryness and then aged in New Holland Dragon’s Milk barrels for 8 months.  The richness from the stout, and depth of the barrel flavor make this product very complex. A hint of the honey and acidity of the cider round out the profile.”  ABV: 8.5%.

DFHpunkinaleDogfish Head Punkin Ale- “A full-bodied brown ale with smooth hints of pumpkin, brown sugar & spice.”  ABV: 7%.

Psychedelic-Cat-Grass-WebShort’s Psychedelic Cat Grass- “Psychedelic Cat Grass is a triple dry hopped American India Pale Ale first brewed for HopCat. Aromas of pineapple, mango, and grapefruit accompany the brew’s slightly hazy, pale orange color and lasting white head. A dry finish is preceded by balanced flavors of tropical fruit and bitter hops.”  ABV: 7.1%.

Key-Lime-Pie-WebShort’s Key Lime Pie- “Key Lime Pie is an Experimental Ale made with fresh limes, milk sugar, graham cracker, and marshmallow fluff modeled after the popular dessert. The prominent flavors are immensely sweet, yet tart, with subtle hints of graham cracker coming through in the nose and remain on the back of the palate. Key Lime Pie won a gold medal in the Experimental Beer category at the Great American Beer Festival in both 2010 and 2014.”  ABV: 5.5%.

bellsoctoberfestBell’s Octoberfest- “Crafted as a flavorful session beer and perfect for autumn, Octoberfest spends a full six weeks fermenting.  With herbal hop aromas, this balanced amber lager focuses on lightly toasted malt that lends body without too much sweetness. Perfect for a week-long wedding celebration in Germany or the start of the Michigan autumn.”  ABV: 5.5%.

mortalcombatraidenMortal Kombat Raiden- “This amped up Imperial Saison has a blast of hops and CO2 that will hit your tongue with a bang. The aroma jumps out of the glass with its earthly and herbal notes not far behind.”

Mortal-Kombat-Scorpion-Imperial-StoutMortal Kombat Scorpion- “A unique blend for great Imperial Stout brings both fire and ice into your glass. The fiery southwest chilies and cooling Madagascar Vanilla Bean pair nicely with the exotic notes produced by our own yeast strain.”

mortalcombatsubzeroMortal Kombat Sub-Zero- “Refreshingly cooling on a warm day, an Imperial India Pale Ale that’s not all about the hops or the malt but is a whole lot of both fighting it out for your palate’s supremacy. Drink icy for more of the hops or warmer for more malt.”

We’ll see you soon!  Cheers!

New Beer Arrivals 8/8-8/12

Avery El Gose- “A timeless, traditional tart gose (goes-uh) with its zesty and salty disposition is brightened by a tangy citrus twist. A bier for every día!”  ABV: 4.5%.

Fat-Heads-Trail-Head-Pale-Ale-labelFat Head’s Trail Head- “Go off the grid and give back some good vibes. Brewed with whole flower Simcoe and Citra hops, Trail Head Pale Ale is a limited edition batch exclusive to Cleveland. A portion of the proceeds from this special beer go directly to the Cleveland Metroparks Trails Fund, which supports the rehabilitation of the park’s more than 270 miles of trails. Now grab your gear and take the trail!”  ABV: 6.3%.

citraassdownAgainst The Grain Citra Ass Down- “This is a very hop forward American style IPA. Brewed with Pale, Vienna, Munich and wheat malt for a solid base for all American hops, focusing mainly on the variety “Citra.” Citra hops are a relatively new variety introduced in 2008. It was bred as a hybrid of a number of different hops, including Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, U.S. Tettnanger, East Kent Golding, Bavarian, Brewers Gold, and other unknown hops. The resulting hop, Citra, has a distinct citrusy and tropical fruit flavor and aroma. In Citra ass down we used American Columbus for bittering and 11# of Citra at the end of the boil for late kettle addition flavor and aroma. Then we added 6 more pounds Citra and 5# Centennial post fermention for aroma. Rebrewed for your tasting pleasure!”  ABV: 8%.

B Nektar Death Unicorn- A hard cider with black currant.  ABV: 6%.

bnektarmutantzombieB Nektar Mutant Killer Zombie Manhattan Project Thingy- “Unfortunately, we’ve experienced some issues that we like to call “Uh-Oh’s”. We accidentally blended a few hundred gallons of Zombie Killer into one of the two tanks that contained Zombies Take Manhattan. Yep, we’re feeling pretty dumb.  On the plus side (we always look on the bright side of life), we still have about 70+ barrels of a mutant blend of ZTM and Zombie Killer.  So rather than cry about it, we decided to see what we could do with it.  And the Mutant Killer Zombie Manhattan Project Thingy has been born.  Keep a look out for this and enjoy…while you can.”  ABV: 10%.

Upland-Malefactor-690x553Upland Malefactor- “Developed as a stronger version of a Flanders-style Red Ale, Malefactor is our only sour aged in bourbon barrels that have been previously used to age beer at least once. This creates petite notes of bourbon character, and darker, charred wood character. Malefactor also undergoes a turbid mash, with a portion of flaked maize being boiled with the rest of the malt bill, including Vienna and caramel malts. A different cocktail of microorganisms are involved in fermentation, which creates sour notes, and hints of cherry pie. Malefactor is aged for up to 8 months or more before packaging.”  ABV: 10.5%.

alltechpumpkinAlltech Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale- “A barrel-aged ale brewed with Kentucky-sourced pumpkin, richly spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. As the ale is aged in fresh bourbon barrels, the sweetness of caramel and vanilla are imparted upon the brew and complement its spicier base. At 10 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), this robust, limited release seasonal makes for a flavorful sipping beer to slowly warm up with as the weather cools.”

jackieoOPAJackie O’s Ohio Pale Ale- “American-style Pale Ale is brewed with Yakima Valley hops and English malt to create a wonderful amber color, a lively mouthfeel, and a crisp, hoppy finish.”  ABV: 5.6%.

raspberrybiancaOmnipollo Raspberry Bianca- “A milky gose brewed with buckets of raspberry, lactose sugar and rock salt.”  ABV: 4.2%.

CpXO4ADXYAQDcM2Fifty West Doom Pedal- “Pouring a hazy, light orange color, this unfiltered Wheat Ale is brewed with coriander, orange peel, and grains of paradise. Expect a masterfully blended combination of mildly spicy notes and crisp, sweet, citrus flavors, which come together to create a full, flavorful brew with a light, refreshing finish.”  ABV: 5.5%.

great dividehossGreat Divide Hoss- “HOSS is based on the Märzen lagers of Germany. Rich, layered malt notes, with hints of cherry and dark fruits, dominate, while the unique addition of rye imparts a slightly earthy, spicy character. Hoss finishes crisp and dry, and its brilliant red-orange color is a toast to the sunsets that make the perfect backdrop for this beer.”  ABV: 6.2%.

Rhinegeist-Saber-Tooth-TigerRhinegeist Sabertooth- “Saber Tooth Tiger is a Prehistoric IPA that attacks the senses with potent notes of Papaya, Mango and Peach yet finishes it’s prey (your palate) with a crisp clean citrus bitterness.”  ABV: 8.5%.

Rhinegeist_FranzRhinegeist Franz- “Franz is our Oktoberfest beer. He’s an autumnal brew, a bit of a dreamer, often hikes in the Alps and comes back with great ideas for delicious malts and is forever hoisting barrels over his head for ’ze exercize’. Franz is our Oktoberfest brau, and our first take on a German brew. Not traditional, but über German. These malts will PUMP you UP, jaaah!”  ABV: 5.4%.

schlaflypumpkinSchlafly Pumpkin Ale- “Our Pumpkin Ale blends the spices of the harvest with full-bodied sweetness for a beer that tastes like pumpkin pie. Pounds of pumpkin form a malty foundation that supports the fall flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove.  While pumpkin beers were produced in the early days of the American colonies, they were different from the pumpkin beers we know today.  Colonists used pumpkin and squash as the fermenting medium, since malted barley was scarce.  Once malt became more readily available, it replaced these alternatives to grain.  In the 1990’s, American craft brewers reintroduced the style to the delight of pumpkin beer drinkers.”  ABV: 8%.

victory-sour-monkey-label-600Victory Sour Monkey- “Sour Monkey puts a tastefully tart twist on our Golden Monkey’s sweet, fruity essence. A sharp, citrus-laden tang makes this brew a Monkey all its own!”  ABV: 9.5%.

weyerbacherpilsnerWeyerbacher Line Street Pilsner- “Sure, we love our big beers, but sometimes we just want something lighter without sacrificing flavor. That’s Line Street Pils. A hoppy pilsner with great flavor and a not-so-menacing ABV. This brew pours a bright and deep yellow with a pleasant, light citrus aroma. Our twist on a Czech pils using Centennial and Mandarina Bavaria hops, this beer has a crisp, refreshing bitterness up front that fades into a dry, palate quenching finish. Bright, crisp and hop forward – that’s Line Street Pils.”  ABV: 5.3%.

hopknifeTroegs Hop Knife- “Hop Knife Harvest Ale recognizes the tradition of hand-harvesting hops at their peak. Our HopCyclone process creates a spiral of hop dispersal during fermentation, releasing a bounty of citrus, resin & tropical aromas. #3 of 4 in our Hop Cycle seasonal series.”  ABV: 6.2%.

Oktober Fuel has an aroma that is dominated by complex malt characteristics including bready, biscuity and slightly toasty. It is light amber to dark orange in color, with a beautiful, long lasting off-white head. Starting with a complex malt sweetness this beer will finish crisp and dry. Oktober Fuel has a nice spicyness of noble hops to balance the malt complexity this style is known for.”  ABV: 6%.

2016_Decadence_1_22Alesmith Decadence 2016- “inspired by Anchor Brewing’s Steam Beer, dating back to 1971. The style is known elsewhere as a California common.  AleSmith created an imperial Cali common for the occasion. Keeping stylistically sound, the brewery fermented a lager at warmer ale temperatures. The process causes the yeast to different flavors than if fermented colder. Per the brewery, the resulting beer is “a combination of fruity, mineral-like flavors, borne from the lager yeast esters.” Interestingly, this is the only time AleSmith has ever brewed this beer.”  ABV: 9.5%.
