New Beer Arrivals 1/23-1/27

Braxton Dead Blow- They’re newest can release!  “Dead Blow is a Tropical version of the Foreign Extra Stout. Eighty pounds of macerated dates made its way into this brew, partnered with a Dry English Ale yeast to provide a vibrant fruity/tropical aroma with a slight amount of fruity esters. The Dry English ale yeast helps this beer attenuate lower, however leaving a residual sweetness on the finish as well as increase the fruity characteristic received from the Dates. Dead Blow is a dry, roasty, fruity, full bodied, smooth stout, that is lighter on bitterness.”  ABV: 7.2%.

Bell’s Smitten- “Smitten began as Golden Rye Pale Ale, part of a series of beers that explored the use of rye malt at our pub, the Eccentric Café. Our spring seasonal offers rustic flavors from rye malt combined with citrus, resinous hop aroma from Pacific Northwest varieties to create a crisp, refreshing take on the classic Pale Ale.”  ABV: 6%.

Arbor Espresso Love- “Oatmeal and 20 pounds of fresh roasted coffee from the Ugly Mug Café contribute to a mildly chalky espresso character balanced by a rich, sweet creamy maltiness. Coffee finish dissolves into chocolate with a slight roasty bitterness.”  ABV: 6.7%.

Alpine Windows Up- “This West Coast style IPA is 7% and chocked full of Citra and Mosaic hops.”

Off Color Hell Broth- “Brewed in collaboration with Amager Bryghus, Danish Style Wild Ale brewed with; Cranberries, Juniper Berries, Wild Blossom Honey, and Lemon Blossom Honey.”  ABV: 6.30%.

Off Color Papillon- “An American Wild Ale aged in gin barrels with wild yeasts.”  ABV: 6.1%.

Blackberry Farm King of Falling Fruit- “A Farmhouse Ale aged in red wine barrels with local Tennessee peaches and plums”  ABV: 6.3%.

Stone Enjoy By 02.14.17- “It’s not unusual to see pronouncements of “I Heart Hops,” “I Heart Chocolate” or “I Heart Coffee” throughout #socialmedia, printed on T-shirts and, natch, emblazoned on coffee cups. Over the past couple of decades we have helped add “I Freaking Heart IPAs” to that lexicon. Today, passionate people can’t imagine a world without all of the above. For this special edition, we added chocolate and coffee to make this devastatingly fresh IPA even more seductive to the palate. We humbly suggest that you use this libation to proclaim your love for someone… and we suggest that someone be you. Loving yourself is exactly what this libation is all about. Love now; remember forever. ”  ABV: 9.4%.

Warped Wing Jolly Tar- “Dark brown with ruddy highlights and has a subdued hop character with a mildly assertive finish. The aroma is malty with lots of bakers chocolate and mild raisin-like notes. The aroma flows into the flavor of the beer with chocolate, raisin and fig like character. The mid palette is malty with medium body that finishes somewhat dry.”  ABV: 5.7%.

Warped Wing Baltic Argonaut- “This Baltic Porter is black in color with a dense tan foam. The aroma boasts a bouquet of roasty, coffee notes with mild caramel sweetness. The malt character features lots of dark malt flavors like roast, chocolate and vanilla complimented by warming alcohol notes and hints of nutty, toffee, bready flavors. ”  ABV: 11.5%.

Sixpoint Hi-Res- “To see the hop cone up close, we zoomed in microscopic, and found a hi-res view. In Hi-Resolution, the hop optic was magnified; our perception, fully amplified. It’s microscopic. It’s telescopic. It’s off-topic. It’s Mad Science. ”  ABV: 10.5%.

Great Divide Hop Disciples- “A Rotating Hop Project takes a bright, clean IPA and puts a different hop variety at the forefront of the sensory experience every year. The inaugural release features Idaho 7, which shows up punching with aromas of orange zest and stone fruit complemented by a hint of black tea leaves in an uncharacteristic element of subtlety. Hop Disciples may look tough on the outside, but with its golden blonde hue and approachable 6.2% ABV, we promise it’s a lover not a fighter.”

Dark Horse Double Crooked Tree- “We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Enjoy right away or let it mellow and smooth with some age.”  ABV: 12%.

Against The Grain A Beer- “Walk up to the bar and what do you ask for? A Beer, naturally. It doesn’t always matter what it is, or what you want in this case. You want something light? We’ve got A Beer for you. You want something hop forward? We’ve got A Beer for you. You just want to camp out on that bar stool and crush something? We’ve got ABeer for you. We’re only marginally apologetic that it’s not kettle soured with Mosaic & Amarillo hops. This is better. This is a straight forward, refreshing extra pale ale utilizing the newest varieties of German aroma hops (Hallertau Blanc & Mandarina Bavaria). Call it a session IPA if you need, call it a pale ale if you prefer, hell, it doesn’t matter what you call it, what matters is that you stop talking about it and throw ABeer down yer gullet.”  ABV: 4.5%.

As always, if you come in and look around you will find plenty more world class beers on our shelves.

This week’s events are:

Wednesday: Kill The Keg: $3 off 64oz growlers and $2 off 32oz howlers and crowlers all day long!  (Does not include 3 Floyd’s, Nitro, or Meads).

Thursday: Utopias Pint Night!!  Get a 1oz pour of Sam Adams Utopias for $10 while supplies last.  Food available from Adena’s Beefstroll.

We’ll see you soon, cheers!

New Beer Arrivals 12/19-12/23

Urban Artifact Thoroughbred- “Bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Kentucky Common Ale with brettanomyces lending tropical fruit flavors.”  ABV: 9.1%.

Rhinegeist Fiction- “Dry hopped blonde Belgian extra pale ale with intense bouquet of lychee, kiwi and citrus.”  ABV: 6%.

Rhinegeist Roar- “This Double IPA has a hint of spicy rye added to offer up a creamy mouthfeel, Amarillo, Mosaic and Citra hops give apricot, peach, mango, grapefruit and citrus flavors and aromas.”  ABV: 8%.

New Belgium Citradelic Exotic Lime- “A crisp, refreshing golden ale bursting with juicy Persian lime, freshly ground corriander and a hit of cracked black pepper.”  ABV: 5.2%.

Great Divide BA Yeti- “This unique version of our monstrous Yeti Imperial Stout is aged for at least 12 months in whiskey barrels.  The spirited aging process produces a hugely complex but mellowed Yeti, with its signature roasted flavors, hints of vanilla and oak, and a whiskeyed finish.  Who says you can’t tame a beast?”  ABV: 10.4%.

Revolution Deth’s Tar- “Deth’s Tar is a barrel-aged Russian Imperial Oatmeal Stout. It is brewed with a host of wonderful specialty malts, flaked oats and oat malt to impart a rich, silky mouthfeel and deep, complex malt flavors and aromas reminiscent of dark baker’s chocolate, fresh brewed coffee and caramel candy. We also utilized Warrior as the main bittering hop and English Fuggle in the whirlpool to impart a clean balanced bitterness and hints earthiness and spiciness dancing around the intense malt backbone. The brew then spent ten months resting between Heaven Hill and Old Forester bourbon barrels. The resulting blend is Deth’s Tar, that we bring to you once again on draft and in 22-ounce bombers in commemorative packaging.”  ABV: 13.5%.

The Bruery 4 Calling Birds- “Spiced Strong Dark Ale. The Twelve Days of Christmas series continues! We took inspiration from the traditional winter warmer for our fourth verse, integrating gingerbread spices into a robust dark ale. Notes of licorice & banana bread mingle with dark fruit, molasses and bitter chocolate for a perfect cold weather sipper!”  ABV: 11%.

The Bruery 5 Golden Rings- “5 Golden Rings is the 5th verse in our ‘12 Days of Christmas’ winter seasonal ale series. The only golden ale in the bunch, we spiced up the natural pause in the classic song with cinnamon, allspice and ginger along with the delicious sweet and tangy flavor of pineapple. The resulting ale is a true holiday treat that can be enjoyed fresh or cellared until 2019, when 12 Drummers Drumming will be released.”  ABV: 11.5%.

The Bruery 6 Geese-A-Laying- “6 Geese-A-Laying is the 6th beer in our “12 Days of Christmas” series and is a return to the more classic dark and toasty winter ale, following the appropriately blonde 5 Golden Rings. Brewed with cape gooseberries, this malty ale displays notes of plums, dark cherry and bright, citrus-like flavors from the namesake berries. Delicious right now, but suitable for aging up to 6 years, upon the release of 12 Drummers Drumming.”  ABV: 11.5%.

The Bruery 7 Swans a Swimming- “7 Swans-A-Swimming is the 7th beer in our “12 Days of Christmas” series. For this verse of the story, we chose the path we don’t often take – we brewed to style. No bells, no whistles, just our best take on the Belgian Quadrupel style. Brewed with nothing but water, malt, yeast, hops and a bit of Belgian dark candi sugar, this beer may not be as out-of-the-box as some of our past winter brews, but it’s just as tasty. Rich and complex, this robust dark ale juggles notes of raisin bread, dried apricots, burnt caramel and roasted pecans. The sweet flavors provide a full body and the bright yeast wafts the sweet holiday notes out of the glass, into your life. 7 Swans-A-Swimming is a perfect holiday sipper. Delicious right now, but suitable for aging up to 5 years, upon the release of 12 Drummers Drumming.”  ABV: 11%.

The Bruery  8 Maids-a-Milking- “8 Maids-a-Milking is the 8th beer in our “12 Days of Christmas” series, and we’d be udderly crazy to release anything but a milk stout. So we made an imperial milk stout to stand up to whatever Old Man Winter throws our way from now through 2019 with the final release of our series. 8 Maids-a-Milking is brewed with lactose, which is commonly referred to as milk sugar. It’s the only type of sugar that is unfermentable by yeast, which adds more perceptible creaminess and sweetness to the finished beer. This mouthfeel and sweetness is complemented by robust layers of milk chocolate, subtle spice accents from our house Belgian yeast and roasty, cafe elements indicative of our take on the style. Celebrate the seasons with the best of both worlds: enjoy some now, and lay a few down for up to 4 years to be enjoyed upon the release of 12 Drummers Drumming.”  ABV: 11.3%.

Hoof Hearted Florida Room- “Dry-hopped Pilsner made with 100% Pilsner malt, grown in Ohio, and hopped with Huell Melon!! A new German hop that has hints of…melon!”  ABV: 5%.

Ballast Point Coconut Victory at Sea- “This Coconut Victory at Sea takes our popular Imperial Porter to another place. We added sweet roasted coconut to our robust porter brewed with Caffe Calabria coffee and vanilla,  the perfect complement to this beer’s subtly roasty intensity. A favorite at our annual Victory at Sea Day, but it’s worth enjoying anytime you need to be transported.”  ABV: 10%.

Clown Shoes Space Cake #7- “Tasked with bringing cake to our 7th anniversary party, Miracle Mike needed to destroy the laser beam shooting pastries that menace him. He appears to have “borrowed” the birthday surprise from a young wizard who did not die. Dry hopped with seven hops (Idaho 7, Mosaic, Citra, Ella, Galaxy, Centennial, and Nelson Sauvin) this IPA salutes the industry and our customers. Thank you for a wonderful seven years!”  ABV: 7.7%.

With how busy we are during the holidays we will not be running as many events as usual this week, however, Wednesday is still Kill the Keg Day, and Thursday’s Pint Night will feature $1 off all pints and growlers!

We will be open normal hours all week (9am-11pm mon-sat) with the exception of Christmas Day, which we will be open 11am-10pm!

We’ll see you soon, cheers!

New Beer Arrivals 12/12-12/16

New Belgium Clutch-  “It started as chance, a sandwich shop encounter between a band and a fan. It ended as the Clutch Collaboration. This pleasing, two-part potion was brewed with chocolate and black malts for a rich and roasty overtone, then fused with a dry, substratum of sour for a bold and audacious flavor. Black as night, this beer is blended at 70% stout, 30% dark sour wood beer for a collaboration that begins with a sour edge and finishes with a big, dark malt character, lingering, sweet on your palate. ”  ABV: 8.5%.

perrin_brewing_norules-2Perrin No Rules- “This gigantic 15% Imperial Porter is deceptively smooth and subtly sweet with layers of flavor that never seem to end. Some say it tastes like a Mounds candy bar that’s been dipped over and over again in rich chocolate and soaked in bourbon. Other people find flavors of coconut, cinnamon, toffee, vanilla, and coffee — and they would also be correct. This beer is special and there’s a reason why it was named as the top beer in the World.”

deschutesthedissidentDeschutes The Dissident- “The Dissident is an Oud Bruin, a distinctive Flanders-style sour brown ale, with a heavenly aroma and flavor. Our first wild yeast beer, we use Brettanomyces and local cherries to give The Dissident its characteristic sour taste. Our stiffest brewing challenge, it must be fermented in isolation from our other beers for a full 22 months, partly in pinot and cabernet barrels. The words coddled and “worth it” come to mind.”  ABV: 10.9%.

urbanartifactfinncansUrban Artifact Finn- “We created this beer style, which we call The Berliner Pale Ale, to be hopped like a citrusy American Pale Ale with an all malt grain bill, yet brewed with a crisp tartness like a Berliner Weisse. Apricot, grapefruit, and tropical hop flavors dominate the aroma followed by a burst of citrusy hop flavor balanced with a refreshing tartness”  ABV: 5.4%.

zombiedust3 Floyd’s Zombie Dust- “This intensely hopped and gushing undead Pale Ale will be one’s only respite after the zombie apocalypse. Created with our marvelous friends in the comic industry.”  ABV: 6.2%.  (No holds).

saugatuckblueberry-maple-stoutSaugatuck Blueberry Maple Stout- “A sweet milk stout with all the malt characteristics you love but with a bold, unique twist- this beer tastes like a glass full of blueberry pancakes smothered in maple syrup.”  ABV: 6%.

hoppinfrogfrogquistadorHoppin Frog BA Frogquistador- “Set forth to become the conqueror of extremely special and rare Spanish brandy barrels that were captured by our crew, El Frogquistador was conceived. It had to be prepared for battle, yet lively and agile enough to conquer all this delicious, complex and memorable goodness.”  ABV: 8.6%.

As always, if you come in and shop, you will certainly find plenty of other badass beers.

New Beer Arrivals 11/14-11/18

Dogfish Head Beer for Breakfast Stout- “A stout tricked out with all sorts of breakfast ingredients including Guatemalan Antigua cold press coffee, Maple syrup harvested from Western Massachusetts and for the quintessential Delaware breakfast touch – Rapa Scrapple and their secret blend of spices.  2-row Applewood smoked barley, Kiln Coffee malt, Flaked oats, Roasted barley, Caramel malt along with additions of Molasses, Milk Sugars (lactose), Brown Sugar, Roasted Chicory lay the foundation for this malty, breakfast-themed concoction. Enjoy huge notes of coffee in the nose and savory layers in the flavor.”  ABV: 7.4%.

worldwide_stout-500x500Dogfish Head World Wide Stout- “Yes, this is the beer you’ve heard so much about!  Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, World Wide Stout is dark, roasty and complex. This Ageable Ale clocks in at 15-20% ABV and has a depth more in line with a fine port than with a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer.  World Wide debuted in the winter of 1999, and the staying power of this brew is undeniable. Like Fort and 120 Minute IPA, World Wide Stout only gets better with age.  After some time in your beer cellar, the heat of the booze fades into the background and the port notes and roastiness take over.  World Wide goes great with (or as!) dessert. Share one with someone you love.”

rhinegeis-pure-fury-can-720x340Rhinegeist Pure Fury- “Intensely hopped yet restrained, bright and tropical fruit forward American Pale Ale with Amarillo, Mosaic, Bravo and Cascade hops. An essay in finesse.”  ABV: 5.7%.

rhinegeistmosaicRhinegeist Mosaic Pale Ale- “Mosaic (5.6%, 45 IBU) was the first in our series of single hop pale ales that we put into motion almost a year ago. We kicked off the series to not only brew hoppy and sessionable beers, but to further explore the flavor profile of hops and experimental varieties. Mosaic is a dry hopped pale ale with an ebullient grapefruit blossom and mandarin orange bouquet.”

hoppiness_6_pack1Alpine Pure Hoppiness- “A West Coast Style Double IPA so mega-hopped it will take you to hop heaven. We’ve used hops in the boil, more hops in the giant hopback, and added to that, an incredible amount of dry-hopping for that cutting-edge “hop bite.” Once you’ve tasted this unique beer, all others pale in comparison.”  ABV: 8%.

braxtonsnowshovelBraxton Rum Barrel Aged Snow Shovel- “This winter warmer was brewed with local honey, ginger and cinnamon. The beer then aged in Caribbean Rum Barrels for a year”  ABV: 11.4%.

atg70kAgainst The Grain 70k- “This is essentially the 35k recipe doubled.  Double roasty, double chocolatey, double creamy, double delicious. Then we decided to make it 2.5X awesome by aging it in Angel’s Envy barrels for a really, really long time. The bourbon and oak flavors perfectly compliment the massive flavors in the double mega imperial milk stout. You don’t swim in this beer, it swims in you!”  ABV: 13.1%.

against-the-grain-20160916-clearly-everybody-wants-some-700x509Against The Grain/Hoof Hearted Clearly Everybody Wants Some- A hoppy India Pale Lager made in collaboration with Against the Grain and Hoof Hearted.  ABV: 6%.

three-floyds-alpha-klaus3 Floyd’s Alpha Klaus- “Alpha King’s festive cousin. A big American Christmas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt, Mexican sugar, and of course, tons of strange American hops.”  ABV: 6%.

heavyseas-partnership-stoneHeavy Seas/Stone Partnerships Imperial Brown IPA- “Brewed with Blackstrap Molasses in the kettle, chewy malt character supports layers of American hop mayhem (we are playing with Stone afterall) – a burly, palate obliterating Imperial Brown IPA! ”  ABV: 9%.

Definitely some good ones hitting the shelves this week (as per usual), so get your wallets and your livers ready and come get some.  Our events this week are:

lwulverbottleThirsty Dog Sherry Barrel aged Wulver- A Scotch Ale/Wee Heavy aged in sherry barrels.  ABV: 12%.

His mission: capture the freshest hop flowers he could sneak up on. Then he wet-hopped this bad-ass brew for a deliciously dank IPA. Out of the wild emerged The Hop Stalker. Piney? Yes. Resiny? Yes. Citrusy? Yes. Dangerous? Absolutely!”  ABV: 7%.

harvestFounders Harvest Ale- “This liquid dream pours a hazy golden straw color with a white, two-finger head. Your first sip rewards you with a super juicy hop presence bursting with fresh citrus, then finishes to introduce toasted malt undertones.”  ABV: 7.6%.

lagunitas-born-yesterdayLagunitas Born Yesterday- “Quite possibly the freshest Fresh Hop ale you’ll get your paws on. How? Our farmer friends in Yakima, WA harvested and rushed straight-to-our-breweries the freshest wet, un-kilned hops. Then a herculean effort involving the Lagunitas brewers commenced with a quickness … sorting and picking through the hops to ensure the freshest of the fresh. After all the lupulin glands are sufficiently tickled, the hops go into a proprietary Borning Process which allows us to take these whole-cone hops (not pellets or oils or other sorcery) and deliver their absolute essence and liquid likeness to you in bottles and kegs for an immaculate reception.”  ABV: 6.5%.

DFH_BottleSketches_033016_V3_HLDogfish Head Flesh&Blood- “Flesh & Blood began with a ton of real citrus including lemon flesh and blood orange juice—hence the name—plus orange and lemon peel. Then the brewers began searching for the perfect combination of hops to perfectly complement the citrus flavors. After trialing number of different hops one-by-one, they emerged with Warrior, Centennial, and a rare experimental hop.  So what does this focus on simple, pure unadulterated fruit mean in terms of the aromatics and flavors in this beer? Flesh & Blood balances the resinous hoppy characteristics of an American IPA with the explosive zesty fruitiness and subtle drying tartness of citrus to deliver a highly quaffable ale that’s incredibly unique and lovely to down the whole year round. ”  ABV: 7.5%.

chasin-freshies_oval2Deschutes Chasin’ Freshies- “Like fresh powder, it’s a seize-the-moment thing. This year we’ve chased down fresh Centennial hops from the Goschie Farms in Oregon. At harvest, we rush the hops from the vine to our kettles to ensure we capture the purest, juiciest essence of the hop flower in every beer. Enjoy the bright, bold aroma and flavor that comes but once a year.”  ABV: 7.4%.

Legend has it that he first came up with this beer, with the help of his woodland friends, to fight against the long frigid winter nights endured by all of the pioneers of the Last Frontier.”  ABV: 8.5%.

southern-tier-choklat-labelSouthern Tier Choklat- “the ancients called it ‘food for the gods’“ The Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the Maya, unfolds a complex web of mystery around a beverage known as xocoatl (ch-co-atle). At Southern Tier, we’re not surprised that hieroglyphs of the ancient Maya depict chocolate being poured for rulers and gods. Even through the many voyages of Columbus, the mystical bean remained nothing more than a strange currency of the native peoples. Moving through centuries, the circular journey of cacao has been realized in our brewing house, encompassing the complexity of the darkest, bitter-sweet candy together with the original frothy cold beverage of the ancient Maya to bring to you our Blackwater Series Choklat Stout. We have combined the finest ingredients to tempt your senses & renew the power & interrelation of history in every bottle.”  ABV: 10%.
