New Arrivals 5/8-5/19

Nickelbrook Ceres- “A sour beer with sea salt, cucumber and lime juice; sounds insane, right?  Nope, this thirst-quenching Gose (pronounced Gose-Uh) is a perfect balance between tart, refreshing and citric, like a well-crafted cocktail. Named for the Roman goddess of agriculture and crops, Ceres is our tribute to the importance of fresh, natural ingredients. Wheat and barley, cucumbers and limes, Himalayan sea salt and a hit of Lactobaccilus combine for the perfect summer brew. The gods were smiling on our brewers the day they came up with this beauty.  Tart, crisp and fresh, this Gose will soon be gone.”  ABV: 4%.

Nickelbrook Raspberry Uber- “Our brewers decided to have some fun and took one of our most scientific creations and made it even more amazing!  Our Berliner Style Weisse uses our refreshing sour style of wheat beer, which has then been aged on fresh Canadian raspberries.  The result is a massive raspberry flavour explosion that still maintains the incredibly unique qualities of our Berliner Style Weisse.  You’re going to love it- it’s a scientific fact!”  ABV: 3.8%.

Madtree Sol Drifter- “A refreshing blonde ale made for extended periods of drinking during summer days well into the evening. With copious amounts of New Zealand Motueka hops lending lemon and lime notes, Sol Drifter ends with a crisp and tart strawberry finish.”  ABV: 4.3%.

Avery Perzik- “A classic saison—dry, crisp, fruity, spicy and refreshing with a dose of summer—peaches!”  ABV: 6.4%.

Zaftig Juicy Lucy- “Juicy Lucy is a lighter IPA made to become your everyday beer. This delicious IPA delivers citrusy punch full of fruity flavors, namely papaya, apricot, and guava. This lovely lady was double dry hopped with Citra and Rakau hops.”  ABV: 7%.

Bell’s Pooltime- “A refreshing Belgian-inspired Wheat Ale with light clove notes. The truly distinguishing feature is the use of 100% Montmorency tart cherries grown in the Traverse City region of Michigan. These cherries add a subtle tartness and bright counterpoint to the other flavors, enhancing Pooltime’s fruity character and making it the perfect beer for all summer activities.”  ABV: 5.2%.

Ommegang Brunetta- “Brunetta is a mild, clean Oud Bruin, well-balanced and with a touch of caramel sweetness from the specialty malts.”  ABV: 5%.

Ommegang Bend The Knee- “Brewed with pils malt and flaked oats and hopped with Saaz, Bravo, and Styrian Golding hops. It pours a golden hue with a large, frothy head. Both the aroma and flavor mix maltiness and citrus from the hops, while Ommegang’s signature house yeast produces prominent fruitiness. Wildflower honey added during fermentation provides light sweetness to the beer, which finishes dry and with firm hop bitterness.”  ABV: 9%.

Hi-Wire Citra Gose- “This gose-style ale is dry-hopped with Citra hops and the beer hits 4.2% ABV”

Warped Wing Mr. Mean- “This Mean ass IPA is pale orange with copper highlights and has a funk load of Amarillo and Centennial hops providing citrus and fruity aromas and a very bitter finish. Deschutes Pacific Wonderland Lager- “We’ve always believed the best way to respect tradition is to brew the unexpected. So when we set out to create a sessionable lager befitting of the Pacific Northwest, our sense of exploration led us to this dry-hopped wonder befitting of everyday adventure. Citrusy Tettnang Mandarina hops combine with the crisp, bright character of a traditional lager to deliver a beer that is truly refreshing, and undoubtedly worth sharing.”  ABV: 5.5%.

New Beer Arrivals 5/1-5/5

Braxton Twisted Bit- “This traditional German style lager has the malt profile of a Helles and the hop character of a Pilsner, but is slightly stronger than both. The minute addition of common minerals to the brewing water, and the longer traditional decoction mash impart a crisp and remarkable balance between the malt complexity and the subtle bitterness.”  ABV: 5.8%.

Rhinegeist Peach Dodo- “This German Gose is bright and frisky, tart and saline, and dances on the palate with punches of peach. Thirst quenching beyond all imagination, Peach Dodo is the finest of liquids for a beach picnic, or for making history.”  ABV: 4.4%.

Platform Palesner- “Cleveland has always been a city of makers. Once the fifth-largest city in the nation, Cleveland’s hardworking residents rolled out an endless supply of iron and steel, cars and clothing, beer and whiskey. Those were heady times for the industrial Midwest. But fortunes change, factories close, jobs leave, and somewhere along the way we lost our will to create. That’s changing – and fast. Born of a desire to build, a whole new generation of makers are fueling what’s being branded a Rust Belt Revival. Artists, designers, builders, chefs and brewers once again are working to make Cleveland a capital of creation. But they’re not going it alone. The catchword these days is collaboration, powered by a mutual desire to return Cleveland to its rightful place of prominence. Want proof? You’re holding it, a unique beer birthed by two such makers: CLE Clothing Co. and Platform Beer. Part pale ale, part pilsner, 100% Cleveland.”  ABV: 5%.  Platform is new to Cappy’s, and this beer and Speed Merchant are year round offerings!

Platform Speed Merchant- “A sharp bite from the wheat malt is followed by American hop flavors of pine and citrus in this hazy White IPA.”  ABV: 6.6%.

Platform Gordon- A Raspberry Cider.  Semi-Dry, all the way delicious.  ABV: 6%.

Jackie O’s Oro Negro- “American Double Stout, brewed with black walnuts and conditioned on oak, cacao nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks, and Habanero peppers.”  ABV: 10.5%.

Dogfish Head Romantic Chemistry- “What you have here is a serious India Pale Ale shacking up and hunkering down with mango and apricots. At the same time! Romantic Chemistry is brewed with an intermingling of mangos, apricots and ginger, and then dry-hopped with three varieties of hops to deliver a tropical fruit aroma and a hop-forward finish.  It’s fruity, it’s hoppy, it’s tasty!”  ABV: 7.2%.

Ommegang Fruition- “Dry-hopped wit beer brewed with passion fruit, mango, and kiwi.”  ABV: 5.3%.

Rockmill Tripel- “A golden ale that is rich & full bodied with dried fruit.  Delicate Saaz in the nose.”  ABV: 9%.

Great Divide Roadie- “Named both for the road biking cyclist (roadie) and the German word for cycling (radler) and inspired by Great Divide’s roots in the cycling community. Brewed with natural grapefruit puree, this easy-drinking ale pours a hazy sunrise gold and is bursting with citrus aroma. Unique in its class, this Radler is refreshing and slightly tart, with just enough bitterness to keep both cyclists and spectators coming back for more.”  ABV: 4.2%.

Beer Arrivals 3/20-3/24

Braxton 1957- “1957 is a one of a kind beer. Utilizing specialty malts, this English Style Mild features a unique nuttiness and caramel-like sweetness that’s intended to remind you of America’s favorite ballpark snack. A faint hop presence to balance the light malt body makes this a great summer time, “take-me-out-to-the-ball-game” beer.”  ABV: 4%.

Braxton Revamp- “Perfection is a combination of hard work and having the guts to change. It’s not always perfect the first time around and it takes determination to make every drop count. Revamp is an easy drinking American IPA that brings forward notes of tropical fruit flavor with a bright citrus aroma. The bitterness is more rounded than most, due to primarily late hop additions and dry hopping. Go ahead, enjoy your new go-to IPA.”  ABV: 6.5%.

Nowhere in Particular Batch Number 007- “Porter, Mint Cocoa Porter!!! This international beer of mystery, and chocolate is made with fresh mint and a Colorado favorite cocoa company Cholaca. This is a full bodied Porter with a hell of a lot of sassyness and flair, just the way Bond likes them. This Porter has loads of chocolate flavor backed by moderate notes of mint that really shine as it warms. Age this beer or enjoy it fresh, it’s ready for your liking. Tomorrow Never Dies!!!!”  ABV: 6.7%.

Lagunitas Dave Murray’s Best Scotch Ale- “This Scotch Ale is sweet, but not cloying. It’s strong, but not brash. It’s smooth and smokey, like a good dram among friends.”  ABV: 9.5%.

Left Hand Well Played- “Experimental hops and specialty malts compose a beer that is sweet up front with robust hop character and a dry finish.”  ABV: 6.8%.

Left Hand Saison Au Miel- “Dry and crisp farmhouse-style ale. Mild tartness softened by Colorado wildflower honey.”  ABV: 6.8%.

Stone Enjoy By 04.20.17- “Our all-important, hop-driven quest to deliver the most devastatingly fresh IPA on the planet facilitated a paradigm shift in 2012 with the launch of Stone Enjoy By IPA. Not only did we brew this beer with more than 10 different hops, we brewed it specifically NOT to last. Acclaimed for its groundbreakingly short shelf life, this intense double IPA brought forth a whole new concept of what constitutes “fresh” — guaranteeing fans the ultimate level of hoppiness. This devastatingly dank stash of our dry-hopped, hop-bursted double IPA won’t last long. Get your hands on this dank, golden beauty before everyone else gets wind of it.”  ABV: 9.4%.

North High Stardust to Stardust- “Brewed to celebrate the life of David Bowie, Stardust To Stardust is brewed with Galaxy, Apollo, and Comet hops. ”  ABV: 8.8%.

Hi-Wire Man Eater Double IPA- “Oh-oh here she comes. Our entire year’s allotment of Citra and Amarillo hops went into this beer. delicate yet complex malt profile allow these classic IPA hops to shine in this high-gravity concoction. Dare to enter the ring.”  ABV: 8.3%.

Coronado Guava Islander- “Tropical fruit meets tropical vibes in this “guavacated” version of our Islander IPA. Brewed with the classic West Coast combo of Centennial, Chinook and Columbus hops, this beer gets the tropical treatment with a hefty dose of fresh guava puree. The result is a surprisingly smooth, unfiltered IPA bursting with tropical goodness that’s sure to put you in that island state of mind. ”  ABV: 7%.

Jackie O’s Pockets of Sunlight- “Pockets of Sunlight is a saison brewed with honey, coriander & lemon verbena. Fermented with a mixed culture of classic saison strains, wild yeast, & bacteria. Post fermentation, the beer was conditioned in stainless steel for 6 weeks with its primary mixed culture. A third & final fermentation completed this beer in the bottle. Pockets of Sunlight is a radiant saison full of crisp energy. ”  ABV: 6.5%.

Jackie O’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Skipping Stone- “In early 2011, we began to experiment with Trappist yeast, crafting some traditional abbey style ales. Initially, 3 beers were designed and brewed. Each was named after one of the three watersheds that feeds Athens County:  Shade Abbey, Raccoon Dubbel. and Hocking Triple. When it came time to brew a fourth, a quad, we thought long and hard about what to name it. Through reflection, the innocent acts of skipping stones skimmed to the surface. A timeless action of nature in motion inspired a beer both rich and elegant. Bourbon Barrel Skipping Stone exudes powerful notes of caramel, dark fruit, spice, and oak. A beautiful beer to imbibe in subtle surroundings, where the mind can roam.”  ABV: 12%.

Nickel Brook Winey Bastard- “Nickel Brook took some of the best Pinot Noir barrels from the Niagara wine region and tossed their Bolshevik Bastard Imperial Stout in it? I mean, what have they done to the soft oak and subtle, earthy fruit notes from the barrel? Their Imperial Stout has WAY too much chocolate, coffee and dark fruit flavours for the delicate notes imparted by the barrel-aging process. I don’t know what they think they’re doing. So what if it’s delicious? Drink it today, or cellar it to enjoy later as it matures. A votre santé!”  ABV: 10%.

Evil Twin/Westbrook Mexican Biscotti Cake Break- Finally!!! “Imperial stout brewed with coffee, cinnamon, almonds, cocoa nibs, vanilla beans & habanero peppers.”  ABV: 10.5%.

Take cover, the Alpha Effect is in effect!”

Hi-Wire Bed of Nails Brown Ale- “Bed of Nails is crafted as an American ode to a traditional English brown. A light hop addition balances the natural sweetness present in the specialty malt. This beer’s delicate body and dry finish allow flavors of toffee and dark fruit to shine through.”  ABV: 6.1%.

Hi-Wire Gose- “Brewed with Pink Himalayan Salt, this Gose is tart, supremely drinkable and balanced with a complex fruit character. Crisp citrus and lemon-lime from coriander marries with our house Lactobacillus strain, creating subtle notes of stone fruit and apricot in this hazy, sessionable sour wheat beer.”  ABV: 4.2%.

Weyerbacher Sunday Morning Stout- “Sunday Morning Stout, 12.7% ABV, is an American Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels. Aromas of roasted coffee and bourbon awaken your senses while their flavors blend with hints of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla and caramel. The perfect cap to a Saturday night or start to Sunday morning.”

Prairie Phantasmagoria- “You don’t always think of big DIPA’s when you think of Prairie, but we have taken the perfect blend of malts and hops to create this explosion of citrus and piney flavors and aromas. This beer is so good we had to make it a Prairie staple!”  ABV: 8%.

3 Floyd’s Toxic Maltz- “Fruity banana esters and clove with more subtle herbal, citrus, and sweet bread notes. This medium bodied Belgian strong ale is malty sweet at first with a bitter warming finish. Brewed with our friends in the band Exodus. If you hit the floor you can always crawl!!”  ABV: 9.2%.  (No holds)

Hoppin Frog Double Chocolate Cherry Oatmeal Stout- “Rich, smooth, complex chocolate flavors in this oatmeal stout are created from high-grade baker’s cocoa and Belgian chocolate malt.  These great flavors are complimented with a substantial amount of memorable, sweet cherry character, making this one great beer!”  ABV: 8%.

Oskar Blues Deviant Dale’s- “Born at the cross roads, in a juke joint, as if Dale’s Pale Ale sold its soul to balance Deviant’s foreboding aromas of citrus, grapefruit rind and piney resins with a copper ball-of-fire color and inscrutable finish. The 2011 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner (American IPA Category) is the Devil incarnate with untold amounts of malt and hedonistic Columbus dry-hopping.”  ABV: 8%.

Southern Tier Nu Skool- “We spent over a year prototyping R&D versions of Nu Skool. This final version is one special beer. It is an IPA with a slight malty sweetness, but overall balanced & brimming with tropical, fruity, spicy, piney & citrus character. To contrast our IPA, which most closely resembles a traditional English IPA in malt & hop bills, we wanted to brew an India Pale Ale in a new way. West Coast brewers have been brewing lighter, more “Americanized,” yet still full of hop character & our brewers wanted to try their hand by brewing their take.”  ABV: 6%.

The Bruery The Order- “Monastic breweries wrote the book on complex ales that weave notes of dark fruits, spices, caramelized character and warmth into each sip. The Order summons that tradition and adds local inspiration. Each installment in the series features a new fruit, or Frucht, if we’re Sprechen sie Deutsch. This installment has boysenberries added, which impart a puckering jamminess and gem-like hue.”  ABV: 4.5%.

New Beer Arrivals 2/13-2/17

Hakuna Matata.”  ABV: 9%.  Only available for a limited time!

Rhinegeist Powder- “We’re embracing the snow and warming up with our White IPA. With a combination of Lemondrop, Bravo and Centennial hops, Powder showcases citrusy notes with a large percentage (30%) of wheat in its grain bill. Stay cozy out there!”  ABV: 6.8%.

Rhinegeist Mosaic- Now in cans!  “Dry Hopped Pale Ale with an ebullient grapefruit blossom & Mandarin orange bouquet.”  ABV: 5.6%.

Heavy Seas/ Union Partnership- “‘Olde Ale’ is an interesting beer style featuring flavors of nuts, cocoa, molasses, and dried fruits float over a chewy, luscious body of English malt goodness,” said Christopher Leonard, Heavy Seas’ Brewmaster. “Inspired by the rich, warming brews of a bygone era, and with the addition of local Domino Brown Sugar, this example of neighborly camaraderie will yield a true, comfort ale that should kindle its own Baltimore nostalgia.”  ABV: 8.5%.

Dogfish Head Olde School- “Fermented with dates and figs, this smooth barleywine has a unique flavor.  The concept for this beer came from an old cellerman’s manual Sam came across.  At about 15% ABV, this beer is a great candidate for aging. Over time, the beer dries out and the pit fruit flavors come forward and the hops recede. Our recommendation? Grab a few bottles when you find it — enjoy one now, and age the others for a bit. Let us know which you prefer!”

Stone Jindia Pale Ale- “Tired of being in the beer slump dumps? Looking for that certain sprightly spring sprig? Well search no further! One bottle of this aromatically fragrant, ginger-spiced lupulinicious liquid is all it takes to appease even the most rambunctious of palates. This is no snake oil philter good friends. We have the masterful inclination to call it exactly what it is –  EXCITEMENT for your taste buds!  Made from the exotic ginger root, juniper berry tincture and a citrus peel duo of lemon and lime, these botanicals mix miraculously well with a double dose of the most delectable hops known to mankind. Be sure to crook that elbow of yours, for one gloriously refined swig! You’ll find that another is certain to follow as if by divine influence. Good for everything a beer ought to be good for. Beware of Jindia Pale Ale counterfeits from hucksters and mountebanks, and accept only this genuine article.”  ABV: 8.7%.

Urban Artifact The Gadget-  Back for a limited time!  “We asked our taproom staff to design a beer…the consensus was “Sour Berry Bomb”. Get your tastebuds ready for this super-tart blackberry and raspberry phenom. A deep royal purple color and an amazing malt smoothy aroma will get you started, but this one is pure candy. ”  ABV: 6.1%.

Boulevard Rye on Rye on Rye- “Inspired by the success of our “X” series of special Imperial Stout releases, we’ve embarked on a journey to the outer reaches of our popular Rye on Rye. For this inaugural release, a rich, tawny rye ale is aged in first-use rye whiskey barrels then transferred to yet another set of first-use rye whiskey barrels for a second aging, effectively resulting in “Rye on Rye on Rye.”  ABV: 14.6%.

Ommegang Shortsleeve Saison- “This beer is brewed with lemon peel, coriander and grains of paradise.”  ABV: 4.5%.

Ommegang Siren’s Song- “Ancient mariners braved the Aegean, holds laden with figs and raisins. They faced great storms, monstrous sea creatures, and merciless pirates. But all paled compared to the Sirens, whose enchanted songs drifted to sea and drew the sailors to their end.  Our dark ale, Sirens’ Song, pays homage to the lost cargos, with figs and raisins added to the brew kettle. The resulting beer is dark, mysterious, and as irresistible as the Sirens’ seductive song.  Roasted malt and burnt sugar aromas lead, followed by flavors of dark fruit and notes of dark caramel. The finish is smooth and balanced with subtle bitterness.”  ABV: 9%.

Left Hand St. Vrain Tripel- “The usually peaceful St. Vrain River snakes out of the Rocky Mountains, winding mischievously towards our brewery. Named after Ceran St. Vrain, an 1800’s trapper and trader in the valley, St. Vrain is our version of a classic Belgian Tripel. Light in color and lightly hopped using Celeia hops, a touch of malt sweetness contrasts the warm spiciness hidden within. What at first appears benevolent can manifest into a mighty serpent in waiting.”  ABV: 9.3%.

Crooked Stave Vieille- “Vieille meaning “Old” is our artisinal barrel-aged Saison, lightly dry hopped. Each batch release is a diverse blend of Vieille casks that have taken on a soft Brettanomyces character before being lightly dry hopped. Dominated by a floral, citrusy hop character, a subtle herbal note and a tart finish, Vieille’s character exemplifies artisan Saisons.”  ABV: 4.2%.

Crooked Stave Colorado Wild Sage- “We at Crooked Stave find solace playing in the Colorado Mountains and possess a great pride for the place we call home. Paying homage to our great state and the even larger Western Region of the US, we brewed Colorado WildSage, a Brett Saison incorporating fresh herbs, including white sage and lemongrass. Brewed with the backcountry in mind, Colorado WildSage is dominated by a bright floral aroma, soft herbal notes and a crisp Brettanomyces bite from primary fermentation and further bottle conditioning with our house mixed yeast culture. Brewed with all Colorado ingredients in order to deliver a little bit of the high country to everyone who decides to share in this beer with us.”  ABV: 7.2%.

Crooked Stave Motif-  “A Dark Belgian Style Sour Ale.”  ABV: 10%.

Crooked Stave Surette- “Brewed with traditional harvest grains. Surette is a provision Saison with a tart and vinous character from extended barrel aging.”  ABV: 6.2%.

Crooked Stave Serenata Notturna- “Serenata Notturna is Crooked Stave’s take on a Belgian Strong Golden Ale, primary fermented with Crooked Stave’s mixed culture of wild yeast and bacteria in previously used Sherry Casks.  To further push the envelope with our mixed culture fermentations we knocked out a beer with a starting gravity of 22° Plato and fermented this beer to 12% ABV, a bit higher ABV then we usually brew at.”

Bear Republic Hop Shovel- “Hop Shovel is dry, but with a soft and rounded mouthfeel achieved by using a high proportion of wheat and rye. Hop varieties Mosaic, Meridian, and Denali provide an abundance of flavor and aroma.”  ABV: 7.5%.

Bear Republic Café Racer- “Café Racer  features aromas of bright citrus and resinous pine from the generous use of Citra, Amarillo, Cascade and Chinook hops which are complimented by a dry malt finish. The result is a high revving Double IPA that is loud and assertive, much like the rebellious street racers who inspired it. Never ride alone…”  ABV: 9.75%.

New Holland White Hatter- “Flavorfully blends the soft malt, fruity esters and delicate spicing of a Belgian White with hoppy citrus notes of an IPA. Pleasant hints of orange are framed with chamomile, coriander and grains of paradise.”  ABV: 5.5%.

Flying Dog Denali- An Imperial IPA from Flying Dog’s Single Hop Series, featuring Denali hops.  ABV: 8%.

New Beer Arrivals 2/6-2/10

Christian Moerlein Pacer- “Pacer packs an explosive punch of citrus aromatics and tropical fruit flavors backed by an easy-drinking pale body. Slight herbal notes are complemented by a burst of grapefruit and melon from an abundant dry-hopping of Citra hops, creating a pale ale that sets the pace.”  ABV: 6.5%.

Rhinegeist Homie- This year’s Homebrew Competition winner, brewed in collaboration with local brewery, Rhinegeist.  This year the style is a Belgian Dubbel, weighing in at 7.2%.

Rhinegeist Gramps- “A bold, bright and hoppy American Barleywine Ale that’s been waltzing with us at Rhinegeist since our first winter—you never regret spending a little quality time with Gramps.”  ABV: 8.2%.

Troegs First Cut- “Each spring, hop growers dust off their pruning shears and trim the first shoots, bolstering the bines for a rich growing season. First Cut – a mouthful of silky Simcoe and a touch of mango – is a nod to this ritual, without which the world would be a less hoppy place.”  ABV: 6.2%.

Alesmith IPA- Now in cans!! “A San Diego classic, AleSmith IPA showcases the versatility of American hops. Aromas of grapefruit and tangerine lead into an abundance of fresh pine and tropical fruit notes followed by a crisp, resinous bitterness. The complex hop profile is supported by a firm malt presence to create an incredibly flavorful and well-balanced IPA.”  ABV: 7.25%.

Against The Grain Pile of Face- “What’s the first thing you need to do when you start a brewery? Develop your logo, of course. With any potentially decent brewery, your logo must be a skull, it has to be a skull, you’ll be laughed out of the room if you don’t have a skull. So we went hunting in the area where all the great skulls have come from and were shit out of luck. By those fateful dumpsters all we found was this deformed neanderthal type deal, or maybe it’s from an ape, and a big ol’ pile of face. To celebrate our lack of success in finding a really cool skull, we are embracing another required cliché by brewing this American IPA. A modicum of simple malts provide the mediocre backbone to the mountain of various hops that are utilized and rotated throughout the brewing process. Look for dank overtones supported by various citrus and heirloom fruits. It’s the straight forward fuckin’ IPA that you always wanted from us.”  ABV: 6.5%.

Jackie O’s Morning Cloak- “A true session hop delight with grainy character from munic and wheat to add lightness to the grist. Aroma is full of oranges, lemon rind, floral nuances, and touches of grapefruit pith. Morning Cloak is a reference to the first butterfly of spring, as the morning sun coaxes it from the cocoon.”  ABV: 4.5%.

Warped Wing Pirogue- “This Belgian Style Black Tripel made with coffee was named after the type of small boat that carried the first settlers from Cincy up the Great Miami River to Dayton back in 1796. This beer was created through a collaboration between Warped Wing Brewery, Wood Burl Coffee Roasters & Press Coffee Bar. The beer combines cold brew coffee derived from a proprietary brewing process developed by Brett Barker of Wood Burl & Press with an innovative twist on a Belgian Style Tripel that brewmaster, John Haggerty, decided to turn BLACK!   A nose of coffee and baker’s chocolate with a touch of fruity and spicy yeast aroma. From there you will taste sweet flavors of brown sugar and fig that dissipate into a slightly vinous note contributed by the coffee’s slightly drying roastiness, slight notes of dark stone fruit and Belgian Style Tripel finish credited to the Abbey strain of yeast. ”  ABV: 9%.

Taft’s Cherrywood Amber- “American amber ale brewed with a touch of cherrywood smoked malt. Smooth and sultry. ”  ABV: 6%.

Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Blackberry Porter- “This is a big and dark beer with bold flavors to ease you into spring. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Blackberry Porter porter has been brewed with the official state fruit of Kentucky and aged in bourbon barrels. This spring seasonal comes out with the bold roasted malt flavors complemented by a nose of fresh blackberries. ”  ABV: 8.3%.

Founders Frootwood- “We took a crisp, light-bodied cherry ale and hid it away in oak barrels that have held both bourbon and maple syrup. After a lengthy stint, it emerged a changed beer, blanketed in notes of warm vanilla and earthy sweetness. The wood proves itself the star of this beer, adding depth and taming the tart cherry while the maple imposes a velvety texture that lingers for not a moment too long.”  ABV: 8%.

Revolution Straight Jacket- “A strong ale to warm your insides in the dead of winter. Deep aromas and flavors of dark stone fruits, bourbon, molasses, toasted coconut and vanilla come in waves.”  Aged in bourbon barrels.  ABV: 13%.

Plus more 3 Floyd’s then I care to list, including some brand new ones we’ve never seen before!!  You should probably just come in and look around.  Please don’t ask for holds on 3 Floyd’s.

New Beer Arrivals 1/30-2/3

Rhinegeist Café Ink- “Ink Imperial Stout aged on Cincinnati roasted coffee beans.”  ABV: 10%.

Jackie O’s Bourbon Barrel Dark Apparition- “This hauntingly good brew in your hand is rife with dark complexities. Seven malts were used to create deep flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. A hint of bitterness and herbal character from carefully selected European and American hops help support the monolithic maltiness. After conditioning in stainless steel, the beer was transferred into bourbon barrels. For 8 to 12 months, Dark Apparition waited patiently in oak barrels until the time was right to spring forth with its ghostly gusto. A truly decadent brew that is intended to be poured into your favorite snifter and given time to warm up from it’s dark and cool resting place”  ABV: 11.5%.

Dogfish Head Flesh&Blood- Released for the first time in cans!  “Flesh & Blood began with a ton of real citrus including lemon flesh and blood orange juice—hence the name—plus orange and lemon peel. Then the brewers began searching for the perfect combination of hops to perfectly complement the citrus flavors. After trialing number of different hops one-by-one, they emerged with Warrior and Centennial.  So what does this focus on simple, pure unadulterated fruit mean in terms of the aromatics and flavors in this beer? Flesh & Blood balances the resinous hoppy characteristics of an American IPA with the explosive zesty fruitiness and subtle drying tartness of citrus to deliver a highly quaffable ale that’s incredibly unique and lovely to down the whole year round.”  ABV: 7.5%.

Dogfish Head 60 Minute- Released in cans for the first time!  “60 Minute IPA is continuously hopped — more than 60 hop additions over a 60-minute boil. (Getting a vibe of where the name came from?)  60 Minute is brewed with a slew of great Northwest hops. A powerful but balanced East Coast IPA with a lot of citrusy hop character, it’s the session beer for hardcore enthusiasts!”  ABV: 6%.

Stone Ripper- “When it came to creating Ripper, we drew inspiration from the coastal surf cultures of SoCal and Oz. Sourcing classic Cascade from the Pacific Northwest and Australian Galaxy hops from…yes…Australia, we made a beer both lovers of frothy peaks and hoppy green buds will be stoked about. At the same time, we stayed true to our San Diego roots by pushing the hop boundaries of this style. While some might think it lingers on an edge far closer to an IPA, with all the dry-hop flavor and aroma, it’s actually right in line with the current-day interpretation of a West Coast pale. Ours just so happens to have an Aussie accent that’s cascading with a juicy amount of grapefruit and passion fruit hoppiness. So veg out or venture out. Either way, rip one open and taste this awesome golden nectar!”  ABV: 5.7%.

Stone Tangerine Express- “This ain’t no just-add-juice approach. This one is for adults. We use bountiful whole tangerine purée, which brings pithy, crisp bitterness to the citrus flavor. In addition to the complexities of the tangerine — the likes of which you can only get by using the whole fruit — we judiciously employ just a hint of whole pineapple for a backnote (you’d likely not even pick it out of the mix if we didn’t tell you it was there). We’re not looking for a sweet concoction to appease the “I want my beer to taste like fruit juice” crowd. This is Stone. We like our IPAs to taste like IPAs. Big, bold and not for kids.”  ABV: 6.7%.

B Nektar The Dude’s Rug- “Sweet, baked apples followed by a vivid blend of clove and cardamom. Black tea rounds out the flavor and leaves little to no tannin. Medium-bodied with a crisp, red apple skin aftertaste.”  ABV: 5.5%.

Maui Lemongrass Saison- “Belgian inspired Saison brewed with locally raised lemongrass.”  ABV: 5.2%.

Great Divide Chcocolate Oak Aged Yeti- “Another revered incarnation of our legendary imperial stout. We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. Another great Yeti? Hell yes.”  ABV: 9.5%.

Boulevard Early Riser- “We start with a smooth, dark, rich and roasty porter, then add Colombian Cajibio Estate coffee supplied by our local friends at Maps Coffee Roasters to create an eye-opening marriage of our two favorite brewed beverages.”  ABV: 5%.

New Beer Arrivals 1/23-1/27

Braxton Dead Blow- They’re newest can release!  “Dead Blow is a Tropical version of the Foreign Extra Stout. Eighty pounds of macerated dates made its way into this brew, partnered with a Dry English Ale yeast to provide a vibrant fruity/tropical aroma with a slight amount of fruity esters. The Dry English ale yeast helps this beer attenuate lower, however leaving a residual sweetness on the finish as well as increase the fruity characteristic received from the Dates. Dead Blow is a dry, roasty, fruity, full bodied, smooth stout, that is lighter on bitterness.”  ABV: 7.2%.

Bell’s Smitten- “Smitten began as Golden Rye Pale Ale, part of a series of beers that explored the use of rye malt at our pub, the Eccentric Café. Our spring seasonal offers rustic flavors from rye malt combined with citrus, resinous hop aroma from Pacific Northwest varieties to create a crisp, refreshing take on the classic Pale Ale.”  ABV: 6%.

Arbor Espresso Love- “Oatmeal and 20 pounds of fresh roasted coffee from the Ugly Mug Café contribute to a mildly chalky espresso character balanced by a rich, sweet creamy maltiness. Coffee finish dissolves into chocolate with a slight roasty bitterness.”  ABV: 6.7%.

Alpine Windows Up- “This West Coast style IPA is 7% and chocked full of Citra and Mosaic hops.”

Off Color Hell Broth- “Brewed in collaboration with Amager Bryghus, Danish Style Wild Ale brewed with; Cranberries, Juniper Berries, Wild Blossom Honey, and Lemon Blossom Honey.”  ABV: 6.30%.

Off Color Papillon- “An American Wild Ale aged in gin barrels with wild yeasts.”  ABV: 6.1%.

Blackberry Farm King of Falling Fruit- “A Farmhouse Ale aged in red wine barrels with local Tennessee peaches and plums”  ABV: 6.3%.

Stone Enjoy By 02.14.17- “It’s not unusual to see pronouncements of “I Heart Hops,” “I Heart Chocolate” or “I Heart Coffee” throughout #socialmedia, printed on T-shirts and, natch, emblazoned on coffee cups. Over the past couple of decades we have helped add “I Freaking Heart IPAs” to that lexicon. Today, passionate people can’t imagine a world without all of the above. For this special edition, we added chocolate and coffee to make this devastatingly fresh IPA even more seductive to the palate. We humbly suggest that you use this libation to proclaim your love for someone… and we suggest that someone be you. Loving yourself is exactly what this libation is all about. Love now; remember forever. ”  ABV: 9.4%.

Warped Wing Jolly Tar- “Dark brown with ruddy highlights and has a subdued hop character with a mildly assertive finish. The aroma is malty with lots of bakers chocolate and mild raisin-like notes. The aroma flows into the flavor of the beer with chocolate, raisin and fig like character. The mid palette is malty with medium body that finishes somewhat dry.”  ABV: 5.7%.

Warped Wing Baltic Argonaut- “This Baltic Porter is black in color with a dense tan foam. The aroma boasts a bouquet of roasty, coffee notes with mild caramel sweetness. The malt character features lots of dark malt flavors like roast, chocolate and vanilla complimented by warming alcohol notes and hints of nutty, toffee, bready flavors. ”  ABV: 11.5%.

Sixpoint Hi-Res- “To see the hop cone up close, we zoomed in microscopic, and found a hi-res view. In Hi-Resolution, the hop optic was magnified; our perception, fully amplified. It’s microscopic. It’s telescopic. It’s off-topic. It’s Mad Science. ”  ABV: 10.5%.

Great Divide Hop Disciples- “A Rotating Hop Project takes a bright, clean IPA and puts a different hop variety at the forefront of the sensory experience every year. The inaugural release features Idaho 7, which shows up punching with aromas of orange zest and stone fruit complemented by a hint of black tea leaves in an uncharacteristic element of subtlety. Hop Disciples may look tough on the outside, but with its golden blonde hue and approachable 6.2% ABV, we promise it’s a lover not a fighter.”

Dark Horse Double Crooked Tree- “We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Enjoy right away or let it mellow and smooth with some age.”  ABV: 12%.

Against The Grain A Beer- “Walk up to the bar and what do you ask for? A Beer, naturally. It doesn’t always matter what it is, or what you want in this case. You want something light? We’ve got A Beer for you. You want something hop forward? We’ve got A Beer for you. You just want to camp out on that bar stool and crush something? We’ve got ABeer for you. We’re only marginally apologetic that it’s not kettle soured with Mosaic & Amarillo hops. This is better. This is a straight forward, refreshing extra pale ale utilizing the newest varieties of German aroma hops (Hallertau Blanc & Mandarina Bavaria). Call it a session IPA if you need, call it a pale ale if you prefer, hell, it doesn’t matter what you call it, what matters is that you stop talking about it and throw ABeer down yer gullet.”  ABV: 4.5%.

As always, if you come in and look around you will find plenty more world class beers on our shelves.
